Who We Are

We are builders. We are committed to our community. We love what we do.

Born In The Dirt

Our purpose is to make the place we live better through the work we do and achieve the best outcomes for all stakeholders. We emphasize safety, adaptability, collaboration–all with kindness. RAM was the fourth company in Washington State (1st in construction) to be awarded Washington L&I’s Safety Through Achieving, Recognition, Together (START)certificate, a 5-year collaborative process with L&I.

For 30 years the team at RAM Construction General Contractors has been developing trust in relationships. Trust has built one successful engagement at a time resulting in a reputation that becomes something embraced by our employees, their families, our community, and every single partner we collaborate with to create economy and build community.

Slow, deliberate growth over the years and never compromising quality and integrity has led RAM to become a highly respected leader in the construction space and this community. Born in the dirt, RAM has one of the regions largest and most sophisticated heavy civil divisions. It is the civil underpinning that provides the foundation for an unbelievably talented and fully integrated commercial construction company with a 100 + years of experience among our management staff. The combination of being a fully integrated commercial construction company with a sophisticated in house civil division
is key to reducing risk and increasing cost savings for our clients. We understand the high risk scopes that come with building from the ground up and typically identify and mitigate those risks prior to construction.

Who We Are

Mike started RAM in 1993 w/ his dog Spencer and a very trusting and patient wife Wendy.
Officially incorporated in 1995.

We also like to have fun at work so we have frequent celebrations and team-building events while encouraging and supporting extensive community involvement for the last 28 years. From fences at festivals, traffic control for community events, serving on numerous local boards, and performing hundreds of acts of community service; we always nourish our employees, family, and business networks (inside and outside of construction) to promote philanthropy. This approach builds community and company pride which motivates our team members for RAM to achieve successful business results–to safely go the extra mile when called upon and be transparent when things get tough.

Our Commitment to Safety

At RAM safety is more than a three-ring binder sitting on a shelf to facilitate compliancewith state and federal regulations. Here, safety is a culture. It’s what we do. In a previouslife our owner worked for Medic One in both King and Whatcom Counties, gainingfirsthand experience of the ugly side ofindustrial accidents. The emphasis on safety atRAM is strong and backed by years of real life experience. To that end, RAM shuts thecompany down twice a year for a fully paid Safety Stand Down and day of training. Inaddition, daily and weekly safety meetings are performed on each site. If conditionschange on a project, field supervisors call a site specific safety meeting to discuss thechanged conditions.

Our Commitment to Giving Back

Another of RAM’s strengths is finding ways to build projects for non-profits that have some of the most challenging specifications and constraints (i.e. financing requirement, neighborhood association misalignment) causing many other contractors to pass. We learned many ways to navigate, bring consensus, and adapt to the unique challenges/needs that non-profits face in reporting and budgeting to create a win-win outcome. And, in many cases, evolving the project to achieve even better outcomes through their funding processes. To name a few: Heart House, Hope House, MercyHousing renovations, Hospice House, Whatcom Center for Philanthropy, Lydia Place,DVSAS, and other non-profits with tight budgets and unique reporting requirements.

We don’t want to just build a building–we want to work with you to maximize design and impact resulting in the best workplace, housing, and mission-driven activity spaces for maximum impact.
